Chambery Resorts Cater for all Abilities

ski resort

There are over 70 ski resorts within the Chambery region in the heart of the French Alps. This is perfect for the winter traveller who enjoys skiing and snowboarding. Yet which ones are the best for different levels or skiers and snowboarders?

Below is a guide to the best resorts for skiing experts, intermediates and beginners and they are all only a few hours from either Chambery or Geneva Airport, making cheap flights to the area perfect.

Best for Experts – La Garve

La Garve is a skiing experience with few rivals in Europe, offering some of the most challenging skiing conditions. It’s a place of awe-inspiring but menacing and savage beauty, dominated by the jutting multiple-peaks of La Meije which reach 3983m (13,067 feet). The exhilarating but gruelling descent of 2150 metres (7054 feet) to the village needs to be treated with the utmost respect but offers an adrenaline-pumping experience.

Best for Intermediates – Courchevel

Courchevel is one of the best kept skiing resorts in France with beautifully groomed and well laid out runs. Intermediates will find probably the world’s best selection of blue and red trails in the Courchevel Valley. The resort is also home to The Combe de la Saulire red, one of the world’s greatest intermediate runs.

Best for Beginners – Valmorel

Valmorel offer beginners an excellent purpose designed area, separate to the main skiing and allowing first timers to build up confidence before hitting the greens runs out in to the great white yonder.
