Whenever traveling in a car, passenger safety should be paramount, but if you are pregnant, here are some extra safety tips to ensure that you and your baby has a safe travel.

Here are some tips for safe and comfortable car travel when you are pregnant.

You must avoid driving if your bump is so big that it is almost touching the steering wheel. Instead, you should ask your friend or family member to ferry you. Keep plenty of water with you to keep yourself hydrated.

Plan your journey well in advance, allow time to stop to stretch your legs, and for toilet breaks. If you suffer from backache, then use a pillow for your back. Nowadays Special pregnancy wedge pillows are also available in the market.

When you are traveling in the passenger seat then move your seat as far back from the airbag as possible. This extra space will give you more room to stretch your legs. Move your feet in a circular motion as much as you can as it prevents swelling of your feet.

Although comfort is important, but you should never travel without your seatbelt fastened. By doing this, you will be putting yourself and the baby in huge danger and you will be breaking the law.

Before traveling always seek medical advice. Always ensure that your doctor is happy for you to get behind the wheel if you are planning to drive whilst pregnant.
